What's New?

For you "regulars" and contributors who want to see the most recent changes to the website, or to see if your face or name or contribution has made it to the World Wide Web yet, we offer this list of the most recent changes to the website [presented in reverse chronological order]:

We posted Gary "Cranky" Thomas' recollection of the trip he led in September, 2005 along the Railroad to Bodie.

Neal Johns tells us about his trip to the El Rosario Festival. Also about Marian's little boo-boo in Utah.

Posted Nan Savage's report of the Johns/Page trip to the Southern Sierra National Forest.

We added the text and some fine images of Alan Romspert's trip to Death Valley in August of 2005.

Allan Wicker sent us some photos from the 2004 Christmas Party. Thanks, Allan, and Happy New Year.

We bought a Satellite Phone for use where conventional telephone and cell-phone service is unavailable. To avoid arguments about when, where, and who can use this phone on trips, we conjured up a Satellite Telephone Policy.

The dzrtgrls sent us an updated version of our links page, which we are most  pleased to install. Thanks ladies!

We set up a permanent page in memory of Bill Ott.

John Page's trip through the Eureka and Saline valleys, with a stop at Hunter Mountain, generated four separate trip reports by Nan Savage, John Page, Bob Jaussaud, and Warren Alksnis. Get the whole story.

Posted the Friedmans' report of Alan Romspert's trip into the Panamint Mountains in September, 2003.

Added Ann Fulton's account of the Johns' July, 2003 trip, aptly named More of the West.

Posted John Page's trip to Mahogany and Coyote Flats in August, 2003.

Posted the Kalbach's trip to the Kern Plateau in August, 2003.

We spent a fair amount of time and effort to encode email addresses so that that they will escape being "harvested" by spammer's robots.

Posted the trip report by Susan and Elwood Berry on one of the Little Petroglyph Canyon trips that Anne Stoll and Ken Sears set up for us at the 2004 Rendezvous. Thanks for the report, Berrys!

Posted the trip report and some gorgeous images taken by Allan Schoenherr during the Orocopia Mountains trip in January, 2004.

Found and posted the report and pictures of Debbie Miller's fine Mojave Potluck trip.

Added Marian Johns' version of the trip through the Wild Open Spaces of Nevada and Idaho. This complements Ann Fulton's description of the same trip.

Posted Marian Johns' report on the Mothers Day Wildflower Trip.

Added Gene Stoops' report on the weekend with the Olivers; a joint trip with the Mojave Explorers.

We've finally posted the report by Bob Martin on his El Mirage windsailing trip.

One of the more noteworthy events of 2003 was the rescue of the Johns from a fate worse than death, maybe (for Marian), and just plain death (for Neal). Read Marian's story first. Then you can check Marilyn's story. If you want more, there's John's version. Finally, we have posted the True Story of the Rescue, and a followup Letter to the Editor of the Fishwrapper.

We found a copy of the Shoenherr Trip Report on the Arroyos Loop Trip led by Marv Patchen at the 2003 Rendezvous.

Here's the straight skinny on what really happened on the Boys' Weekend Out at the Pinto Mining Area, by Alan Romspert (now is he the good or bad Alan/Allan?)

The first of the trip reports from Rendezvous 2003 is posted; Going-Home Rushes by John Page.

In January, 2003, we got an interesting letter and some great pictures from a descendant of the Newman Mine (Goler Wash) family.

Read about The Trip That Was Not to Be, which was supposed to be Robb Anderson's trip to a secret lake near Bishop.

We've added a report of an impromptu private day trip led by Ana Romero and Robb Anderson up the Miller Jeep Trail on June 22, 2002.

Sorry to take so much time to update the site in April through June, 2002. First, we took a long trip, then we had a little communication problem with our website servers. Anyhow, we are back on line now and anxious to receive input.

Take a look at the report of the April, 2002 trip through Anza-Borrego State Park led by John Page and Paul Ferry.

We finally posted the trip report of Betty Wallin's trip to her ranch and Trout Creek in Arizona in June of 2001. Now if we can only find the pictures!

We found a report, by Ann Fulton, of a trip to Arizona and New Mexico in May, 2001, led by Marian and Neal Johns. Sorry, Ann, to not post it promptly.

At the same time, we also found a delicious recipe for enchiladas sent to the Fishwrapper by Ann Fulton. Bon Apetite!

We have the trip report of Rawbanana's trip into the Calico Area, on December 15, 2001. (January 12, 2002)

We added the Johns' Southeast Oregon trip of 2001. (November 28, '01)

Read about the Jaussaud's spur-of-the-moment Kofa Trip. If you keep up with this website you would have known about the trip; it happened too fast to make the newsletter.

We added the trip report of the Johns' trip into Baja Califorina during the Christmas holiday break. (February 8)

By George...We think we've done it! The website server has been moved from Neal's ISP, pe.net, to 1dollarhosting.com, part of webcountry.net. The move was reasonably uneventful, all things considered. We haven't had a chance to test all the links, internal and external, so if you find something that doesn't work right, please e-mail the Webdude. (February 7, 2001)

Posted the trip reports of the San Sevaine and Cajon Pass day trips. The text of the Johns' trip report about the Mongolian adventure was added to the photos from that trip. We added some stuff about Quartzite and Rondy 2001 to Future Trips. (December 24)

Added Robb Anderson's report of the Panamints trip led by Alan Romspert on August 12. (December 24)

As we try to catch up, we were given a couple of photos by Ding Elnar of our good friend Allan Wicker in Kyrgyzstan. See the newsletter for the interesting text behind these pictures. (December 20)

After several weeks of frustrating PC problems, your WebDude may be back on-line. He hopes so! Here is the story, with some fine fotos by Steve, of the Hungry Valley Day Trip. (December 17)

We posted a big, big bunch of photos from Reda's Mongolia expedition; no trip report, just pictures. (September 25)

Posted the trip report by Dan Messersmith, with lots of neat pictures, of the Bob Martin/John Page Rocky Mountain High trip into the Colorado San Juan Mountains and the Rio Grande National Forest. Required reading and viewing! (September 19)

The website is getting fat, so we pulled the trip reports about the Squirrels II trip to Baja, the Gila River Country trip, the Kofa Noodle, the Black Canyon canoe trip, the Northern Baja 98-99 trip, and the 1999 Renedezvous reports. We also deleted stuff from this page which is no longer appropriate. The Webdude has CD's with all the old files, if anybody is upset and wants a copy. (April 15)

Finally posted the reports of the Day Trip near Barstow and El Camino del Diablo. (February 13)

Added a Bean/Corn Salad recipe, a simple Tire Deflator to help "air down" your tires, and the latest in the saga of the Johns' Dogs. (February 13)

The eagerly-awaited results of the Desert Explorers' Trip Preference poll are posted. No big surprises. (January 30)

Neal Johns contributed a story that is moderately interesting. If you don't have anything better to do, you can read it on Neal's page. (January 8) Note: we have to post his stuff because this website is located on the server space he pays for.

Added Reda's description of the trip to the Hauser Geode Beds that she and Delmer Ross led last November. (January 8)

Added Reda's description of the White Mountain Trip of last July, led by Alan Romspert. (November 27)
